Following Dim Grow, the acclaimed debut album from abentis, 2++—the new label founded by the artist who co-curated nagoyaka na kaze, Wisdom Teeth's compilation spotlighting the Nagoya, Japan scene—returns with a cassette documenting his machine live performances. Recorded during the live sets he has been performing almost every weekend across Japan, the release captures the raw energy and spontaneity of his evolving hardware-based approach. The recording presents a snapshot of what could be considered the highlights of his live set from recent years. As an active figure in Nagoya's underground scene, abentis has welcomed artists such as Tristan Arp, Piezo, Facta & K-LONE, Kassem Mosse, Rhyw, and Purelink to his hometown, while also sharing stages across Japan with Foodman (食品まつり a.k.a foodman), Stones Taro, Yushh, Will Hofbauer, Astrid Sonne, Flora Yin-Wong, Conna Haraway, and countless others. Having earned the respect of fellow artists and become a familiar presence on club dancefloors across Japan, these recordings capture the distinctive live performance that has become his signature over years of constant touring. From the more relaxed, meditative, yet deeply grooving first side to a second side that delivers a powerful dancefloor drive—drawing subtle inspiration from South African Amapiano while transforming it into something entirely his own—the cassette reveals a side of abentis that has only been hinted at through his studio releases. It captures the distinctive live language he has developed on club sound systems over the past several years. Includes download code.
