Court of Violets is the shapeshifting solo project from Somerville, MA-based singer, songwriter, and musician Amanda Bristow, half of the elusive pastoral folk duo Baba Yaga and vocalist for Boston psychrock legends, Major Stars. With Court of Violets, Bristow presents a cycle of songs, improvisations, and ritual invocations about loss, feminine desire, dream-states, and unabated longing, casting dissonant shadows on your velvet morning. Utilizing shimmering guitars, sound healing instruments, birdsong, feedback dirge, and drone, gossamer folk, and lysergic overtone murk, Bristow encases her hypnotic vocals within a pulsating, resonant alchemical orb meant to soothe and transmute the self. Beneath the canopy of New England forests emerged these songs, spectral missives from the very center of the heart and somewhere else unknown.
